Virtual treasure hunt promises winner nearly $1,000 prize from Kenwyn House
25th February 2006
A virtual treasure hunt based on clues surrounding piracy and the famous treasure of the pirate La Buse is being launched in the context of the festivities for SUBIOS 2006 from March 6-12.

The La Buse Virtual Treasure Hunt, organized jointly by the Seychelles Tourism Board and Kenwyn House, will have a prize worth nearly $1,000 waiting for its eventual winner.

Rather than being buried underneath the sea or a giant boulder – as La Buse’s treasure is rumoured to be at Bel Ombre – the treasure in the La Buse Virtual Treasure Hunt lies beneath a series of challenging clues, all fitting into a special puzzle printed in today’s Nation and again in the March 4 edition of Weekend Nation.

The puzzle will also be available at any of STB’s information offices, at Independence House in Victoria, the Praslin airport, the Baie Ste Anne jetty and La Digue.

Anyone wishing to take part in the hunt will have to pick up a Nation every day starting on Monday, March 6 on the first day of SUBIOS, and through Saturday, March 11, for a special clue. The answer to each clue will fit somewhere onto the puzzle, and must be filled in vertically from the top down.

The seventh and final clue, however, will only be found in the Children’s Playground at the SUBIOS Gardens on the last day of the festival.

Once all seven spaces have been filled in correctly, the completed puzzle will point treasure seekers in the right direction toward claiming the treasure. The first to find it will be the one and only winner of the $1,000 prize from Kenwyn House.

Some clues will be harder than others and may require a small amount of research about La Buse and the story behind the treasure site at Bel Ombre. Some of the answers may also be in French.

Entry into the competition is free to all and anyone can enter.
